The Story

Marketing Consultant, Web & Content Strategy

Bruce & Sons needed a website before anything else could work. No online presence, no content, and no way for a Kingston homeowner searching for firewood to find them.

I built the site from the ground up and started with the audience, not the design. Three segments needed different things from the same content: rural homeowners who’d heated with wood for decades, younger campers and fire pit owners new to it entirely, and a smaller niche of woodshop and cooking customers buying for a specific use. I wrote a full set of tone, audience, and research SOPs so anyone writing for the brand would sound like a real Kingston local, not a corporate blog.

Then I built a bi-monthly content program around the keywords those buyers were actually searching: cord measurements, seasoned wood, delivery terms, local supplier comparisons. Every post had to earn its keyword naturally, in the same gruff, practical voice Tom Bruce would use talking to a neighbor.

Within the first three months of the site going live, that organic search work pulled in 397 clicks and 12.7K impressions with zero paid spend behind it. Tom’s told me his best week saw 20 leads come through the site. Traffic has kept building since: 620 visits and 529 unique visitors year to date.
