Your brand doesn't match the strategy behind it, because a different person built each one.

In a town the size of Greater Napanee, the same people see your business over and over: your sign, your truck, your Facebook page, your booth at the fair. When those all look like different companies, people notice. I start with which customers matter most and how you want them to see you. The logo, colours and templates come after, so they match everywhere you show up.

A downtown with a lot of history

The Town describes its downtown as Victorian-style buildings from the late 1800s, and its heritage register lists 20 designated properties, including the 1856 Town Hall and buildings along Dundas Street East. Market Square around the Town Hall is being redeveloped. A storefront brand here should look sharp next to all that history, without pretending to be old.

Farm stand, factory or inn

The Town describes its economy as a mix of farming, manufacturing, tourism, retail and the public sector, and each one asks something different of a brand. A farm stand has to be recognisable from the road. A manufacturer has to look credible in a proposal and on LinkedIn. An inn has to stand out to travellers comparing places to stay. Working out which one you are comes first.

What this looked like for Build Up

Before Build Up, an entrepreneurship program, could launch, it needed a name and a look. Research shaped both, and a launch campaign followed. Fall 2025 applications came in 25% above the previous cycle. See the Build Up case study →

Based in Kingston, I work with Napanee businesses remotely: no local office, no handoffs, the same person for strategy through delivery.

Questions

Is there grant money for a new sign or storefront?
I couldn't find a façade, signage or downtown grant in Greater Napanee. The Town's Community Improvement Plan is for industrial development, and its Community Initiatives Fund is for community groups and events. Programs change, so it's worth asking the Town and the County's economic development team. If one opens up, I can design to its rules.
Is a new logo enough, or do we need a full rebrand?
That comes down to what isn't working now. Maybe you're attracting the wrong customers, people aren't sure what you offer, or nothing matches from sign to website. Once that's clear, we pick between a refresh and something bigger.
Does my brand have to fit Napanee's heritage downtown?
It should sit comfortably in it, but your logo doesn't need to look old. If your building is a designated heritage property, check with the Town before changing outside signs, and I'll design with that in mind.
Do you need to be in Napanee to design our brand?
No. I'm in Kingston, about 35 minutes down the 401, and we work together remotely, from the first call to handing over the final files. It's the same person the whole way through.
How much does brand design cost?
From $600 plus HST to refresh a logo, or $1,500 for a full identity: logo, colours, fonts and a style guide. You see 3 concepts and get one round of revisions. Print and digital design are priced on top.
