Brockville is a city of about 22,000, and customers come from different directions. Residents shop here all year. Visitors come for the river from spring to fall. Manufacturers sell to other businesses, often far outside the city. Your ads need to know which of those you're after, so that's where I start, along with checking whether enough people search for what you sell to make ads worth paying for.
Following the river season, or not
The cruises and the City-owned islands run May through October, and the Railway Tunnel stays open until the ice comes. The Aquatarium is open all year. Downtown, the BIA runs events through the seasons, from Ladies' Night to Miracle on King Street. If your business follows visitors, your budget can lean into the warm months and the downtown event weekends. If you mostly serve people who live here, it may not need to. Your own call and booking history settles it.
Made in Brockville
Manufacturing is the city's third-largest employment sector, according to the City, which lists cables and wires, chemical products, micro-electronics, pharmaceuticals and packaging among local industries. Business buyers search for the exact part, process or problem they have. For suppliers, I set ads to show only for those searches and send each click to a page that answers it. The city is also building: 2025 was its biggest construction year on record, with $119.5 million in building and 253 new homes, according to the City's activity report. New households need a dentist, a plumber and a mechanic, and they look on Google first.
Worth it before you spend
Google warns that ads aimed at a small area may only run some of the time. So I check how many people search locally, and what a new customer can cost you, before any budget goes live. If it doesn't add up, I'll say so. If it does, each month you'll see what you spent and what each call or form fill cost.
What this looked like for ECM
The clearest example is ECM Heating & Cooling in Kingston: one lead a week, on the same budget for months. After I cut the ads down to heat pump searches, each with its own landing page, leads averaged 6 a week and hit 14 at the peak. Read the ECM story →
Based in Kingston, I work with Brockville businesses remotely: no local office, no handoffs, the same person for strategy through delivery.

Questions
- Are there enough searches in Brockville to make ads pay off?
- Sometimes, and it's the first thing I check. With about 22,000 people, Brockville has fewer searches than Kingston or Ottawa. I look at real numbers for your service and work out what you can afford to pay per customer before you spend a dollar.
- Our customers are other businesses. Does that change anything?
- Yes. Business buyers search for specific parts, services and problems, so the ads stay narrow and each one points to a page that matches the search. If finding staff is the bigger problem, a hiring ad can run alongside.
- Can you reach customers outside the city too?
- Yes. Ads can cover Brockville alone, add Gananoque and the surrounding townships, or use a set distance around you. Once leads come in, I shift money toward the areas that produce them.
- Do you need to be in Brockville to run our ads?
- No. I'm in Kingston, about an hour west on the 401, and everything happens remotely. You talk to the same person who does the work.
- How much does it cost?
- It starts at $800 a month plus HST, with a 3-month minimum, and the fee follows the hours the work takes. Google bills your ad spend directly, and I recommend at least $300 a month.
